Robert is a graduate of Trinity College London (UK) where he majored in Voice, Piano, Conducting and Composition. Because his wife Lynda is Canadian born, he emigrated to Canada where together they opened a Music School at which they offer an array of affordable and personalized music programs, but specialize in vocal teaching of all kinds.
Their philosophy has always been to provide to as many people as possible, regardless of age, ability or level, the opportunity to improve their vocal skills, increase their self confidence and have fun with their singing. They have always believed that singing is one of the healthiest and economical activities available, and that with the proper help and encouragement, it is possible to enjoy lifelong benefits, whether you sing for fun or as a career professional.
Robert has helped many singers and speakers over the years with his unique and effective exercises and tips, the most recent being his daughter Natasha, who is pursuing a successful singing/songwriting career (www.natjay.com). Previously he worked on various projects with his brother the late Tony Jay, who made a successful career as a voice-over artist working mainly for Disney studios. His voice can be heard in various animated movies including Hunchback of Notre Dame, Jungle Book and Rugrats, as well as the voice of the Magic Mirror on the Snow White DVD.
Robert's areas of expertise include detailed Technique, Performance Coaching, Recording, Audition and Competition Preparation, Pop, Country, Jazz and Musical Theatre.
He is currently working on a vocal instruction book called 'You Could Be Singing' some of which he will be sharing with visitors to his website.
